Twenty-one years ago, I bought a one-way ticket and moved to the UK. As the third of four daughters born to parents who were not college graduates, I grew up in a family deeply rooted in patriarchy, where customs dictated that only boys had the privilege of studying abroad. Without my parents' knowledge or any external help, I applied to universities in the UK. Although I sensed my parents' pride when I received multiple offers, I only received their approval to go a week before the term began. Grateful for how education transformed my life, I am now dedicated to helping others accelerate their own success. I love that I can do meaningful work that brings me great joy.
